Feeling the Pressure? Try These 3 Dad Wins That Actually Work
The Daily Habit That Made Me A Happier Dad (Seriously)
You ever feel like the weight of everything is creeping in, even on good days?
Same. So I started writing down 3 things I’m grateful for—my mood lifted, and my kids didn’t look like little chaos agents... they looked like blessings. (Okay, chaotic blessings.)
1️⃣ For Me (Improve Yourself)
✍️ Start a Gratitude Journal
Before you scroll, before you crash for the night—state out loud 3 things you’re thankful for. Every day. Bonus points if you grab a notebook (or the notes app if that’s your jam) and write them down.
Doesn’t have to be deep.
“Hot morning coffee”
“Kid made me laugh with a fart joke”
“I didn’t yell during rush hour”
Over time, this rewires your brain to scan for the good instead of the stress.
You’ll start noticing more wins, more joy, more connection—and your family will feel that shift too.
2️⃣ For ‘We’ (Improve your relationship)
🧹 Do One Chore They Normally Do (Without Being Asked)
You want to win some quiet bonus points with your partner? Knock out a task they usually handle.
Laundry folded? Check. Dishwasher emptied? Boom. Trash taken out without the sigh? MVP behavior.
Don’t announce it. Don’t wait for a gold star. Just do it.
Because nothing says “I see you” like quietly stepping up.
It’s love in action—and in marriage, that speaks louder than any text or flower delivery.
3️⃣ For ‘WEEEEEEE!’ (Improve your relationship with the kids)
🕺 Dance Party to Their Favorite Songs
Two words: kitchen. rave.
Let your kid DJ. Crank their playlist. Move like no one’s judging—especially if they are. That’s part of the fun.
Dance like you’re the sidekick in their movie. Be goofy. Be loud. Be present.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve got rhythm—you’ve got relationship. That’s what they’ll remember.
Not home? Send a short dance video to them or hop on FaceTime for a 2-minute jam. Dad energy travels.
This week I just YouTubed “Bachata Dance Along” and held both kids while I did my best to follow along. Kids loved it. I loved it. Sweat & connection equity achieved.
🔥 This Week’s Dad Quote:
"Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad."
