📈 Becoming the Dad You Want to Be: Focus, Curiosity & Connection

Short on time? Get more done with a little intentional focus time.

In partnership with

👋 Hey Dad.
You know that feeling when you’re fixing something you kind of know how to fix, but your kid’s watching like you’re Tony Stark?
Yeah—welcome to this week.
This one’s about trusting the process of becoming the man you want to be and want them to remember.

1ïžâƒŁ For Me (Upgrade Yourself)

Replace multitasking with 1 hour of deep work per day.
No bouncing between tabs. No refreshing your inbox.
Pick ONE thing that matters. Set a timer. Go deep.
You’ll be amazed how much more you accomplish with fewer “productive distractions.”
You don’t necessarily need more time—you need more focus in the time you already have.

The trick here for me (since I so frequently feel guilty for working) is to pick a single thing that’s a clear needle-moving task. We all have “to-do” lists that never end. Pick the single most impactful thing, the one that even your partner can clearly understand how important/impactful it is and hammer away at it.

2ïžâƒŁ For We (Strengthen Your Relationship)

Learn something new about them.
Yes, them. Your partner, your ride-or-die.
Even if you’ve been together for 10 years.

Ask something interesting like:

  • What’s your dream vacation right now?

  • What’s a goal you’re too shy to say out loud?

  • What’s a movie you secretly love but pretend you don’t?

Curiosity is connection. Don’t assume—ask.

3ïžâƒŁ For WEEEEEEEE! (Deeper bond with your kid)

Draw each other’s portraits.

Simple Rules on this one:

  1. No erasing.

  2. No judging.

  3. All masterpieces must be displayed like fine art.

Whether it’s stick figures or surrealism, the act of drawing each other—badly or brilliantly—opens space for giggles, connection, and the kind of memories that stick.

đŸ”„ This Week’s Dad Quote:

“A dad is someone who wants to catch you before you fall but instead picks you up, brushes you off, and lets you try again.”
— Unknown

Let them stumble. Cheer the comeback louder than the crash.

✅ TL;DR – This Week’s Moves:

  1. Make yourself focus for 1 hour, on a single task.

  2. Learn something new about your partner.

  3. Draw each other’s portraits.
