Quick Weekly Wins for Growth-Minded Fathers
Ever met a parent that became a better parent by consuming alcohol?
What’s the expiration date on an apology? 🤔
1️⃣ For Me (Improve Yourself)
Cut your alcohol intake in half this week.
Not forever. Just a test.
See what happens when you swap that nightcap for water, tea, or journaling. (My personal favorite that helped me quit alcohol nearly altogether, Topochico water — glass bottle).
Notice:
Energy levels
Mental clarity
Mornings
Mood (yours and theirs)
You might be surprised what gets better when the fog lifts—even a little.
2️⃣ For We (Strengthen Your Relationship)
Apologize for something old. (Full disclosure, this felt nearly impossible for the way I’m wired 😆 tough to do, but scary for no real reason)
You know the one. That thing you brushed off, that wound they hinted at, that joke you regret. Now’s the time.
Say it clean, no “but,” no defense, no expectation. Just a heartfelt, “I realize now that hurt you—and I’m truly sorry.”
It’s not weakness. It’s strength. And it opens doors deeper than love ever could on its own.
If I can bring up old happenings to prove a point, then I can do same to prove my love. I reiterate; you will survive this 😂
3️⃣ For WEEEEEEEE! (Bond with the Kids)
Plant something together.
A seed. A flower. A carrot top in a cup. Doesn’t matter.
Put your hands in the dirt and talk about what it means to grow something.
It’s messy. It’s slow. But it’s powerful.
Kind of like fatherhood.
Water it together. Watch it change. Let it teach both of you about patience and showing up daily.
🔥 This Week’s Dad Quote
“Being a dad requires love, not DNA.”
— Unknown
You don’t have to be biologically linked to be deeply bonded. Show up. Love hard. Lead with heart.
